Jamie Lynn Spears Baby

NEW MEMBER OF THE SPEARS CLAN ~ Jamie Lynn Spears and her fiancé Casey Aldridge welcomed a baby girl June 19th, 2008. People confirms exclusively that the baby is named Maddie Briann. "Just the family was there," says a source about the birth around 9:30 a.m. at a hospital in Mississippi, near her Louisiana hometown. "Everyone is healthy and happy."

UPDATE ~ People confirms that Britney is home in Kentwood, Lousianna to be on hand when Jamie Lynn gives birth to her daughter next week. In anticipation of the youngest Spears' imminent delivery, Jamie Lynn has been preparing her nursery with it's pink, brown and "silver-green" color scheme – and buying furniture with her mother.

December 12th, 2007 ~ Various media outlets (People, ET, OK! Magazine, Us, TMZ) are all reporting that Britney Spears' 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. Nickelodeon (which carries her TV show Zoey 101) said in a statement: "We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."

Spears and her mother confirmed the pregnancy to OK! magazine, saying she was 12 weeks along and the father is Jamie Lynn's longtime boyfriend Casey Aldridge. Aldridge's mother confirmed it to

Jamie Lynn told OK! (according to the Associated Press) "It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in complete and total shock and so was he." Jamie told her parents just before Thanksgiving. "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious," her mother, Lynne Spears, told OK!. "She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby." Needless to say, Lynne Spears' "parenting" book has been put on hold indefinitely.

Jamie Lynn stars in one of Nickelodeon's highest-rated shows as a schoolgirl at the fictitious Pacific Coast Academy in Zoey 101. The show is finishing its third season next month.

Maddie Briann?!? Poor girl! At least she could have named her Madeleine Brian or perhaps even *shudders* Madison Brian. But why in the world would you give your daughter a nickname as a name, and add that horrible double n to the end of Briann.
