van Moorsel Baby

IT'S A GIRL ~ According to NU, former Dutch cyclist Leontien Zijlaard-van Moorsel, 37 and her husband Michael have welcomed their first child. Michael announced that his wife became a mother of a healthy daughter and that their little girl is named Indy. Michael also added that it was a tough delivery, but mother and daughter are now doing fine.

van Moorsel started her professional career in the late 1980s and has cycled her way to the top. She has won major races both on the track and on the road. At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, she won gold medals both on the road (road race and time trial) and on the track (3km pursuit) as well as a silver (Points race). At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, she fell in the Penultimate lap and was injured but she managed to win gold (time trial) and bronze (Individual pursuit). After her last race at the Athens Olympics, she retired from cycling.
